Frequently asked questions

What kind of businesses can list?
Any business that is of interest to visitors can list here for free using the Business Lite package. Examples are: Restaurants, bars, any accommodation provider, nightclub, paid attraction, and transport companies.
Will my business listing be found on Google?
Yes. To get the best search engine results (including AI search) follow the guidance in our articles or we can do it for you.
Can you setup the listing?
Yes. We can create a Business listing for you for a small fee. We write an engaging description that is front-loaded with Google search keywords, enter all links and data, and process the images you provide. This includes naming, sizing, and optimising the files.
Is it free to list a local attraction on Tripplanner.nz?
Yes. Listing visitor attractions — beaches, walks, lookouts, picnic spots and other free-to-visit places — is 100% free, with no limit on how many you add.
What's the difference between a Business Lite listing and a paid Business listing?
Business Lite is a free, DIY listing with a flexi address, 3 photos, a short description and unlimited free attraction listings. The Business plan (from $5.99/month, billed annually) adds AI and Google search visibility, 9 photos, a long description with advanced editing, business hours and specials, phone/address/email, moderated reviews, a 0%-commission booking link, and a 12-month price lock.
Is my listing published straight away when I submit it?
Yes, your listing goes live immediately after you submit it. However, any links you add — such as your Airbnb or business website address — are checked by our team afterwards to keep unwanted content off the site.
How many photos can I upload, and what file types work?
You can add up to 9 images (3 on Business Lite), which are automatically resized and centred. Common formats like JPG and PNG work best — iPhone photos saved as .HEIC won't upload, so save them as .jpeg or .JPG first.
Can I hide my exact address but still show my location on the map?
Yes. Tick "Hide my address" on the Add Listing form. Your pin still appears on the map and you can drag it to wherever you'd like, but the street address itself stays private.
Can I add an interactive trail map to my listing?
Yes. Draw your route for free in Google My Maps, generate its embed code, then on your listing choose "Yes" to add a map, paste the embed code in, add a description, and submit.
What's the difference between the Standard, Free and Event/Festival listing types?
Standard suits attractions with a mix of paid and free entry, Free suits recurring things like markets, and Event or Festival suits one-off or yearly events like a music festival. Choose the right type, since it changes what information is shown to visitors automatically.
How do I set the exact location for my listing?
Type the address and pick it from the dropdown, then fine-tune it by dragging the map or the marker, clicking "Set Address on map", or using the "My Location" icon if you're at the site. Moving the Map View itself doesn't change what's shown on the live listing.
Can I use ChatGPT or another AI tool to write my listing description?
Yes — you can't copy someone else's listing or website text, but using ChatGPT or a similar tool to write or rewrite your own description (around 200 words) is fine and keeps it unique.
How can I get direct bookings without paying commission?
Add your own booking link — your Airbnb, OTA, or business website — to your listing and Tripplanner takes 0% commission on any bookings it sends you. We can also build you a dedicated direct-booking website if you'd like one.
